Verizon phones and customers will be a little happier come April. A new Verizon tower is being built behind Bucyrus City Hall.
Stones have been laid and cement has been poured for the project. The tower will be 196-feet tall and, for those with the latest and greatest smartphones, it will be a 4G network.
Service/Safety Director Jeff Wagner said the project is scheduled to be finished by the end of April.
The area at South Walnut Street and Hopley Avenue will be re-fenced and re-landscaped once the project is completed. The process to get a Verizon tower in Bucyrus has taken three years.
